Transparency

Transparency - The requirement to be open and honest about the ways in which personal data are used, so data subjects understand the processing, their rights and the risks.
In the CIPP/E body of knowledge, Transparency comes up under Ch 14.6 - Monitoring overview; Ch 6.2 - Lawfulness, fairness, transparency; Ch 8.1 - Transparency.
Transparency in context
- It raises data protection standards and, given mutual influence, ==mirrors many GDPR concepts== (the definition of [[processor]], a legal basis for processing, expanded special categories, breach notification, transparency and accountability). (Convention 108+)
- ==Transparency== means being open and clear with data subjects. (Lawfulness, fairness and transparency)
- [[Transparency]] means being open and honest about how personal data are used, so data subjects know their data are processed and are aware of their rights, the risks, the rules and the safeguards. (Transparency principle)
