EDPB - European Data Protection Board (Art 68) - successor to the WP29; comprises a chair, the heads of the DPAs and the EDPS, with a Commission delegate attending.
In the CIPP/E body of knowledge, EDPB comes up under Ch 13.5.4-13.5.7 - Consistency & EDPB; Ch 14.2.1 - Consent; Ch 18.2.1-18.2.2 - Who is who.
EDPB in context
- EDPB Guidelines 07/2020 break 'controller' into ==five building blocks==: the ==person/body==; =='determines'==; =='alone or jointly with others'==; =='the purposes and means'==; and =='of the processing of personal data'==. (The Five Building Blocks of 'Controller')
- The [[EDPB]] stresses consent is only appropriate where the data subject has ==genuine choice and control==. (Consent - definition and the four conditions)
- Misrepresenting the basis - saying processing rests on consent while actually relying on another basis - is ==fundamentally unfair== per the EDPB. (Consent vs legitimate interests - choosing correctly)
